Week-in-Review and Resources for People Who Like Old Stuff

Week-in-review
I just wanted to share a couple of fun finds with you. First off, the Rapidly Rotating Records podcast, which is a weekly show featuring 20s and 30s jazz and popular music from 78rpm records. This is my go-to dish-washing music! I hate washing dishes, so I have to give myself an incentive! You can find out more at the Rapidly Rotating Records website or iTunes.

Secondly, I really like the tumblr blog, My Daguerreotype Boyfriend. Its mission is to provide readers with early photos of attractive men, which is too much fun, especially for a gal like me, who happens to love going through old photographs. Unlike the bins of them at antique stores, My Daguerreotype Boyfriend usually has at least some information about the subjects. Here are a few of my favorite portraits:

    Emily and I LOVE "my daguerreotype boyfriend"!! and "OMG Cravats" (though that often has more of pictures from period films than of real men...) and the like. Those sites are too great.

    What a fabulous tumblr idea hah, I hate washing dishes, I do a bad job on purpose hoping someone else will do it, never works!

    Definitely have to go check out OMG Cravats. I read that cravat sales are up 28% because of Hugh Bonneville.

    Dishwashing is the worst! Also, I'm 5'3" and sinks are never the right height! I demanding to the universe, "Where is my house elf?!"

    Claude Monet was quite handsome - I never think of him as anything but old - why is that? Anything you can do to make washing dishes bearable, right? Do you have something to stand on to make you more comfortable?

    Cole Porter is often drafted into service at my house--that is when I'm not washing dishes to Tom Jones, Hall & Oates or Maroon 5. Should I admit that? ;-)
